Answers: Online Prelims of Finatic, Das Caital 2020

The Top 2 teams from Online Prelims will now qualify for the final round.

Teams that have qualified for the final round will be notified via mail shortly.
So here is the list of answers along with the ideal set of reasoning however, we have taken into consideration all the different answers and interpretations that we came across, depending on the connection provided. 

Answer 1: Alibaba
Reasoning:
1. Kotinos (olive wreath) was the prize for the winner at the ancient Olympic Games. In January 2017, Alibaba and International Olympic Committee announced a 800 million deal to sponsor the Olympic Games.
2. Ant Financial (formerly Alipay) is an affiliate company of Alibaba Group. It is the highest valued FinTech Company in world and the world's most valued unicorn at $150 billion.
3. In San Francisco in a cafe, he thought of the name Alibaba and asked the waitress if she knew about it. She replied, "Open Sesame". The picture shows sesame seeds.
4. In 2005, Yahoo! bought a 40% stake in Alibaba for $1 billion.

Answer 2: Rolex
Reasoning:
1. When James Cameron descended into the Mariana Trench in 2012, he sported a Rolex Deepsea Challenge, which was guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 12,000 meters (39,370 feet). The watch kept perfect time throughout the 7 hour underwater journey.
2. Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond novels was a fan of Rolex watches. In his initial novels Bond is known to wear Rolex watches.
3. In 1926, Rolex created the Oyster collection, the world's first waterproof and dustproof watch.
4. The company was founded in London but relocated to Switzerland due to wartime exigencies. Big Ben is in London.

Answer 3: Starbucks
Reasoning:
1. In 1971 when the company started in Seattle they only sold whole roasted coffee beans and did not yet brew coffee.
2. Starbuck is the name of the first mate in Moby Dick. They named it so as they thought that the name starting with 'st' had some special power.
3. English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl and writer Gordon Bowker shared the love for coffee and tea and started this in University.
4. It believes that circular dining areas feel less empty compared to rectangular tables. They don't want you to feel alone.

Answer 4: Lee Cooper
Reasoning:
1. It celebrated its 100th year by supplying denim jackets and suits for the British team for the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympics.
2. M. Cooper (Overalls) became one of the leading suppliers to Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Later the company was rechristened to Lee Cooper.

Reasoning:
1. Earlier manufacturers had no leverage on how leverage on how much the phone cost, it's features or even software updates. It depended on the wireless carrier. With the iPhone, Apple changed it all. Now Verizon and others had to listen to Apple.

Answer 6: Flipkart
Reasoning:
1. Flipkart is based in Bangalore. The clip is from a famous dialogue-less movie starring Kamal Hassan, Pushpaka Vimana (1987) shot in Bangalore in Windsor Manor.
2. Softbank was one of the biggest Flipkart investors till August 2018. Here Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son is speaking...

Answer 7: Mastercard
1. The President and CEO Ajaypal Singh Banga is a Stephanian.
2. Mastercard operates Banknet, a global telecommunications network linking all Mastercard card issuers, acquirers, and data processing centres into a single financial network. The operations hub is located in St. Louis, Missouri. (Picture of St. Louis IX, the French King)
3. QkR is a mobile payment app developed by Mastercard, for the purpose of ordering products and services through a smartphone with payments charged to the associated credit card. It is being deployed for use in large-scale events, such as sport events, concerts, or movie theaters. It is being tested in Yankee Stadium (The QR reads Yankee Stadium).
4. The company logo has resemblance to Venn Diagrams.

Answer 8: Paypal
Reasoning:
1. YouTube was created by Paypal employees.
2. Paypal was acquired by eBay in July 2002 until July 18, 2015.
3. Tesla and Paypal have a common founder-Elon Musk
4. Paypal was initially named X.com
