He did B.Tech. from IIT-Delhi, Ph.D. in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He was the Chief Economist at IMF from 2003-2006.
He was featured on Foreign Policy magazine's list of top global thinkers.
In a 2011 poll in The Economist,he was ranked as the economist with "the most important ideas for a post-crisis world".
He was recently appointed as Cheif Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance.
